US High School Diploma
A US high school diploma is a certificate awarded to students who have completed their secondary education in the United States. It signifies that a student has met the necessary academic requirements set by their school or school district to graduate from high school. The diploma is typically earned after completing four years of high school coursework, which includes a variety of subjects such as English, math, science, social studies, and electives. In addition to completing coursework, students may also need to pass certain exams or fulfill specific graduation requirements set by their state or school district. A high school diploma is an important credential that is often required for further education or employment opportunities.
GED (General Educational Development Test)
A GED (General Educational Development) is an alternative high school equivalency credential in the United States. It is designed for individuals who did not complete their high school education but still want to obtain a recognized credential. The GED test measures knowledge and skills in four subject areas: Language Arts (Reading and Writing), Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.
To earn a GED, individuals must pass all four subject area tests. The tests are computer-based and can be taken at official testing centers across the country. The GED is recognized as equivalent to a high school diploma by colleges, universities, and employers.
The GED program provides an opportunity for individuals to demonstrate their academic abilities and improve their prospects for further education or employment. It is often pursued by adults who left high school early or individuals who were homeschooled and did not receive a traditional diploma.
